The Flat Lay Clothing styling option provides the biggest opportunity for us to customize your clothing photos to your liking. Clothing with this option can be styled completely flat or “relaxed” and wavy. Lighting can be uniform to evenly light each piece or directional to add depth and emphasize texture.
Without a body or mannequin inside, it’s very easy for flat lay clothing photos to look over-sized and unappealing. That’s where our years of experience come into play. Our skilled clothing photographers have each styled thousands of pieces of clothing and know how to make every item look its best. Remember, “flat” is the first part of “flattering”!
A “Primary Photo” simply means the first or main photo for each item and is usually a photo of the front of the item.
If you want more than just a Primary Photo for a particular piece of clothing, you can also request Alternate-Angle Photos such as a photo of the back of the item.
If you really want to draw attention to a design element such as buttons, stitching or fabric design, a Detail Close-Up Photo will do the trick.
Selecting this option gets your photos to you within two business days and is based on availability. Check with us first to make sure that rush service is available.
In the simplest terms, drawing a clipping path on your product images is like creating an invisible “cookie cutter” right around the edges of the item being photographed and will allow your designer to place your images against any background color or image.
We try our hardest to avoid charging extra for photos, but if a single photo requires us to steam and style multiple items together then we may request an additional fee. We will always get your approval first.
Both ghost mannequin and flat lay styling can be used to create beautiful and professional-looking clothing photos, but when it comes down to selecting one over the other, there’s no universal answer. Here are a couple things to consider when selecting a styling option…
We’ve found that elastic or stretchy items such as athletic wear and swimwear generally photograph better with ghost mannequin styling so you can see the garments fully stretched.
Other than that, it’s really a matter of preference. If you budget allows, consider having them styled both ways!
It should be no surprise that clothing that gets boxed and shipped to us gets wrinkled. Sometimes VERY wrinkled. That’s why the first thing we do when we receive your items is hang and steam everything.
Styling clothing without a body inside requires experience, patience and a pinch of magic. While it would be hard to prove that we possess magic, we certainly have a tremendous amount of experience and patience.
Once the images have been created, we edit them to remove the background and any flaws, wrinkles or other undesirable elements that appear in the photo. We also match colors for each piece of clothing to the photos.
If you're not thrilled with your images, please be sure to let us know so we can attempt to address your concerns either by editing or reshooting. If you're still not happy with them, no problem. We never ask clients to pay for photos they don't love. Just promise not to use the images, and we'll arrange for the return of your samples. That said, we're quite confident in our ability to deliver top-notch images to even the most discriminating clients.
There is no minimum order quantity. If you only have one item and just need one photo of it, that is absolutely fine. Send or bring it to us, and we'll treat your order with the same care that we give to our very largest clients.
We have a tremendous amount of respect for small businesses and are not interested in penalizing them with high pricing just because they don't have hundreds of styles. For that reason, we have done away with quantity discounts so that we can offer affordable pricing to all of our clients of all sizes.
When you place your order, you will be able to select from among the following return options for your samples:
